digital equity
Access to affordable, reliable broadband and digital skills is essential for participating in the economy, healthcare, democracy, and social connection. However, many older adults—especially in rural and underserved communities—face significant barriers to these resources.
AGE+ is advancing digital equity by working closely with local organizations and partners to develop and expand digital literacy and navigation programs across Oregon. As part of this effort, we launched a pilot program in Baker City, Talent, and Stanfield to help older adults confidently navigate the online world. Funded by the State Library of Oregon and delivered through partnerships with libraries and senior centers, the program offers small cohorts hands-on training led by trained digital navigators, supported by intergenerational volunteers, using the Senior Planet curriculum from AARP. Participants also gain access to technology resources and ongoing support to maintain digital engagement.
We are actively working to bring these programs to more communities, approaching digital literacy as a public health priority to ensure older Oregonians have the tools and confidence to thrive in a digital world.
If you are interested in supporting this mission or bringing the digital literacy program to your community, please contact Olivia Robinson at orobinson@ageplus.org.
