AGE+ participated in a thought leaders panel on December 9th as a part of the Age-Friendly Oregon Summit hosted by AARP Oregon. The summit was held to challenge outdated beliefs about aging and to explore and discover innovations and promising practices in housing, transportation, health, intergenerational connections and other critical age-friendly domains.
AGE+ is always proud to be a collaborative leader and to help drive change on behalf of older adults across Oregon.
I attended the summit and appreciated the comments that Keren Brown Wilson made on behalf of those of us living in rural communities. I live in Deschutes county, in Sisters. It’s a small town of 3000 people, and we face the same challenges of transportation, housing , social isolation and access to medical care that urban areas face, without big city budgets. Her words were a much needed reminder that the State of Oregon doesn’t end at the Cascade Mountains. Wonderful summit, let’s all pledge to keep moving toward Age Friendly goals.
