Oregon does not have enough workers to fill available job openings. Meanwhile, many older people are unable to find the work they want. Several factors have come together to affect our workplaces and the job market in lasting ways, and although this new landscape is challenging, AGE+ also sees opportunities.

The skills, knowledge and experience older workers can bring to workplaces and their potential to fill critical workforce shortages can no longer be overlooked and undervalued. Our current situation makes this a pivotal time to address ageist frameworks and unconscious biases. Our economy depends on it.

We hope you find some useful information in this new briefing paper and that you share it with your networks. And, if you plan to hire qualified, motivated employees in the future, please think outside the age brackets.
